The books
Six books a year
About four weeks each, across different genres.
Your child's group picks two
Four are chosen by us. The group picks the other two from a list of good books.
Theirs to keep
We post each book before its classes begin. It's theirs to keep and write in.
A class
Same rhythm every time
An hour: opening, reading, writing, a quick word game, and closing.
The word game
The game is where grammar and spelling get practised, and kids love it.
Grade 5: a book of their own
Every Grade 5 student writes and publishes their own book [CONFIRM when it runs].
At home, and how you'll know
- Read 20 minutes a day.
- Each week: reading, one writing task, and short online practice (account included).
- Four checks a year and a clear report after each one.
What parents say
from real TLH parents
“My daughter joined in 2nd grade to build her reading habits. It built her confidence and her reading skills. She went from chapter books to novels, and she was so excited to write and publish her own book at such a young age.”
“We love the class sizes and the attention each of our children gets. Our two children learn differently, and the teacher recognised that and quickly changed how they're taught. We'd tried another program for a year without much growth. Here, we see steady growth.”
