About Me

I am an educator, teacher trainer and curriculum builder with over 15 years of experience in early childhood education (pre-k to grade 5).

Over the years I have taught and created curriculum for over 100 schools and I have seen how much a child can flourish when he/she is equipped with the 2 most important tools for a happy and rewarding learning journey – a strong foundation and good learning habits.

But not just any learning habits – I believe that every child is special, and it is my goal to cultivate the learning habits that work for your child. That way, not only does your child acquire knowledge now, but is ready to learn forever.

I have applied this philosophy to teaching, teacher-training, and course development and I have seen firsthand how effective this is in bringing out the best in children!

I’ve had an incredibly fulfilling journey with education. Here’s what I’ve done through the years

Trained over 10000
teachers across the country

In my early 20’s, I was fortunate to train teachers with Aloha India, on diverse programs such as Abacus, English Language, Vedic math etc. Something that began as a part time job during my summer breaks in college transitioned into a full time career in teacher training, where I had the privilege of working with many passionate & exceptional teachers. From Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to  Jammu Kashmir & Mizoram, it is the interaction with these teachers that inspired me into this industry.

Built my first reading curriculum
and created courses for 100+ schools

Then the entrepreneur bug bit me and I founded Athena Child Development Center. I built my first reading curriculum, testing and rigorously refining my program. The feedback for my phonics curriculum was heartwarming. I structured and fool proofed the program. Even today, my phonics program works like magic. In 100 lessons your child transforms from no reading to reading books independently.

During that time, I also had the opportunity to build courses for many amazing schools and institutions like Aloha USA, Madras University in collaboration with CII (Confederation of Indian Industries), St. Johns School and many prominent schools in the country. One of my teacher curriculum was implemented in 100+ schools and received great feedback.

Set up Language labs for
schools in smaller towns

Thulir happened as an extension of my vision to take my language programs to smaller towns and more needy schools. We built a curriculum based on the CEFR framework. During this time, we set up 100’s of language labs across B and C towns of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The lack of proficient English speaking teachers and the varied range of skills in children pushed us to pursue adaptive learning technology, personalizing courses for every child’s unique needs.

Developed the concept of
Reading Gyms

My passion for taking reading and books into every child’s home came into existence with My Chapter One. I introduced the concept of Reading Gyms – Book based reading ecosystems run by neighborhood teachers. Through Reading Gyms I was able to bring reading and language improvement to children and bridge the learning gap during the pandemic period.

My next chapter

I believe that teaching subjects are helpful for short term success but building the right habits lasts for a lifetime. In my new chapter @ The Learning Habits, as I continue to follow my passion and commitment to early childhood education, I wish to create a lasting impact by building positive learning habits in children while building a strong foundation on the basics. I have watched thousands of children grow in my classrooms… I can’t wait to see your little one grow into a lifelong learner too!
